Going through the valleys in our minds there is a distinct shout to declare the right to grow as a people believe is their right; to wave a flag that symbolises the achievements and struggles, the stories and songs that shape much of our identity…

Tibetans has been renowned for their peaceful protests, a people that had a theocracy based on the desire and dedication to understand human suffering and attain a lighter consciousness. Their traditional protest has been one of celebration of their culture allowing many of us to experience their resonant message and partake in the subtle expression of compassionate growth.

Now more than ever we must show our support, support their desire for a free Tibet by reminding everyone that there is an entire belief in what humanity is to do on this planet that is being colonised by “tourist agencies, commodity shops, etc…”. This sort of development is not exclusive to this day and age, and it is not the only part of the planet that it is happening but every time a culture is destroyed life loses a precious gift this island called Earth has allowed us to develop. Nevertheless since we know about it this time, since we can think of at least one thing we can do to show our compassion and support and do it we can add some light to their fight. Peaceful monks have shown their strength. What does the conscious, inspired youth have? The Olympic torch is going to be in London tomorrow so we’ll see how it manifests itself close to home…
Here is a news reel on what was going on in Lhasa.
Since this has been all over the news here are a couple of articles on how on of the newest killings while monks showed what they felt about military officers tearing up all the pictures and of the Dalai Lama within their monastery. One from the BBC, a curious account especially if the video was watched, yet understandable with England’s relationship with China and the need for at least one ‘Western’ news company to not be so obviously pro-Tibet, and the U.K.’s prime minister declaring his 100% support for the Olympics yet giving the Dalai Lama an audience for when he comes to London. The other comes from the Timesonline after having published a 6 page article on the context of the protests, something that was seriously lacking during the snapshot journalism from the past couple of weeks. Can’t talk about how the Chinese media are covering it but here is something of the propaganda being fed to the masses, thanks much BBC.
Hang some prayer flags outside your house, print out the flag and take it to the next gig, learn how to say ‘hello in Tibetan, talk to a Chinese person about it and ask them what they feel about it, learn about the oppression, forced sterilisations, torture, symbology, etc.. write something to the local political representative to show there are many individuals that are aware and feel that if a letter is the best an individual can do then the most powerful, influential people must be able to do much more. If we all do a little something at least we can know that our generation and our abilities at this point in history can be used to represent what we feel is right!
Paz, Tierra y Libertad

watching the parade through london has been insane. 18 arrests and counting!
china can fucking do one!
Been doing “free tibet” call and responses at all the gigs on the tour.. including one on saturday in front of 7000 people in marmande, south of france..
torch came through paris today.. flame went out twice and mad people getting involved.. i hope i hope i hope the international communtiy unites on this one and shows that human rights is not just a hollow concept.. this could be the last chance for tibet.
props to sebilllion for the post!!! love will prevail..
yo man, that’s amazing! I remember back at splash 2001 Samy Deluxe got the whole crowd chanting ‘fuck nazis’, you guys are legends for getting that message out!
During a crazy elucidation tip last night at c-dillo’s I realised that what moves people, gets them to rally and change their lifestyle is no longer the raw ideology that made revolutions happen years ago, it’s not the desire to go hear a politician speak during a rally or protest. What our general movement, our unprecendeted place in history is that culutre, art, music can be shared quicker than ever before and therefore people just want to go out and bounce off eachother’s creativity and devotion. Imagine a march onto some of the centres of exploitation after/during a gig. that would be sick! feels it would be much better to be chanting with a crowd instead of shouting with a mob.
love, respect, compassion. the harbingers of our evolution.
the torch went out TWICE?!
that shit is big. i fucking wonder how the chinese media is going to spin that shit..
mad props on the Tibetan love spreadage greeensk!
fuck the people who think tibet is a country
Tibet belongs to China forever!
those of you should read the real history which is not twisting by western fucking colonizers, and Dalai is just a tiny sissy lapdog raised by them. We welcome him back and look how popular he’s now in Tibet, hahaha, do you know how many people Dalai has killed in Tibet? I am wondering why god let him live in this world…
and Dalai Lama, very ironic, a killer can get Nobel Peace Prize… i used to adore the prize, but now i am thinking that it’s just shit
